Lil' Birdie

"Lil' Birdie", 6" x 8" acrylic on masonite, sold

My lil' experiment...
Isn't this background cool?
I bought some "Annie Sloan" chalk paint from an antique store and painted over some gesso that I applied really roughly on masonite. Then I sanded it with a sanding block like you would furniture.

If the paint wasn't so expensive, I'd get the whole line of colors to play with.  I love this color,  "french linen", of course!.   :)

Romping Labs

Romping Labs, 16" x 16", mixed media

Have you ever met an owner of 2 dog siblings because they just couldn't split up the puppies?  or because the one was so lonely, they went back and got the other?  That's what I think of when I see these two happy, crazy guys chasing each other down the beach.

I think the one was actually smiling.  Do you have a dog that smiles.  I've seen my dog smile when he's out and about and free to run.  I kept the painting rough and full of texture to capture the excitement between the two.

It makes me smile.
