Sneak Peek Friday

Not ready to see Nutcrackers  yet?  Me, either.  Here they are all over my desk this week.  In order to be ready for the holiday season, we'd better start now, right?   Well, when I do open my etsy shop, I have an idea of selling these little guys as prints.

So many of my friends go all out with decorating their homes at Christmas and wouldn't it be fun to have a grouping of these little men on the wall?   There's the idea, but I've been stuck on do I do a background or not and if I do, what kind of background.

So, I decided to just start painting them.  I can always print some to fool around with a background later on.   I've tried different ideas...musical notes, lyrics from the Nutcracker ballet, but so far I haven't liked anything yet.

Also on my desk is my new Kodak picture frame.  Instead of printing the picture to paint from, I can put it on the screen and paint a more 3-d version of the subject.  Although with this new printer I just got, the printed picture of the nutcracker was much better than the picture frame.  So,  maybe good for some pictures and not for others.  I'm still experimenting.

If you want to join us in the fun, just click on  "In the Studio"  and give it a try.

Dearest Diana, it's not too early for me to see nutcrakers. I've actually started listerning to christmas songs hehe trying to get some holiday inspiration. I do want to make and create something for the holiday season this year. :) I really adore your work table and that gorgeous nutcracker painting! Yes it would be really fun to have this little man on the wall along with those christmas decorations. Have a lovely merry happy weekend and love to you!

when i was younger, i danced in the Nutcracker several years. it began a tradition for my grandparents to give me Nutcrackers. I always have a good collection for Christmas time, but sometimes not enough room for them! the prints would be the perfect solution! great job!

I love the old feel to the nutcracker. They seem to elicit a sense of nostalgia in me. I think putting them in the etsy shop is such a great idea.

I guess you have to be ready to see Nutcrackers now if you want to sell them in your Etsy shop... I love your idea! And your nutcracker looks good (great idea about the digital frame)! Hm... can you imagine, coming from Germany, that I don't like nutcrackers? Odd, isn't it?

Oh yes... it is time to be thinking of having art ready for Christmas! It will be here before you know it! :) I love your Nutcrackers... they are fantastic! Just keep playing with the background and it will come to you. What a *great* idea to use your picture frame to paint from. Thanks so much for welcoming us into your studio this week! :)

You do such an amazing job! I love the plain white space around the nutcracker. Nothing distracts from it... very clean and eye catching.
