On my desk this week, I finally experimented with an effect that I've seen used by other artists. I did an orange under painting, so it could show through in areas. Using acrylic, the colors stay vibrant but dry very quickly.

Here another example of how I use
Picnik to improve my work. When I first looked at this version in
Picnik, I thought the bottom flower was taking the viewer's eye out of the painting. So I lifted it slighting to keep you from spiraling down and out.

This picture shows how I made a little view finder to focus on the roses I was painting ... oh my, all those petals.

Thanks for the compliment on my garden. Your roses are beautiful. Water colour is one of my favourite kinds of paintings. I can't believe you did that with the pencils. I just bought some awhile back. After seeing "A rose is a Rose" I cant' wait to give them a try. Thanks for more great info on Picnik.
ReplyDeleteI love the underpainting (and that it is orange) and I'm still amazed at your "Picnik-technique".
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to make the flowers pop out more. I love how much detail there is in the underpainting! Beautiful!
