All About the Dress

All About the Dress - mixed media on wood  7-1/4" x 8-1/4"

As you see, I'm still enjoying the cool textures I recently learned at Jane's class and having such fun applying them to my art.  All the textured steps are done in acrylic and then the dress is painted in oil on top.  The reason I use oil is because I hate the way acrylic drys so fast, but also as long as the oil is still wet, I can wipe everything off the top of my textured piece and start over.  During our art painting night, this had a bird and branch on it, but wasn't turning out the way I wanted so I just wiped it all off and made this piece...sorry, Michelle ;) (She hates it when I do that!)

Hmmmm.... I've always thought I would hate oils, because I'm an impatient person, but this gives me food for thought. I LOVE how it turned out!

Gros bisous

I LOVE how your applying Jane's techniques and making them your own. All of these mixed media pieces that you're making are exceptional!

The texture is just yummy - I love to create textue with paint. I have never considered to work with oils, they just intimidate me, but your description here makes me curious!

I LOVE this! I just found you through Jane's FB page (she posted a photo of one of your class projects). I am now following you (sounds a bit scary, lol!) Your art is beautiful and your favorite quote by Martha Graham is one of my all time favorites! So glad I found you.
