Oil Painting on Board, "4 x 6" Wasabi |
They will not go quietly,
the cats who've shared our lives.
In suptle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear a meow at the door.
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them. . . and always will.
the cats who've shared our lives.
In suptle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear a meow at the door.
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place

And, sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them. . . and always will.

I was approached to do this cat portrait for a group birthday present to a girlfriend who lost her beloved cat, Wasabi. Although I don't have a cat, I can identify with the attachment one feels towards a pet and the sorrow of their loss.

Oh my gosh....how bittersweet....
Lovely paintings that will no doubt mean so much to the recipient :)
Il n'est pas évident, mais vous avez certainement donné une âme à ce charmant minou...

Sweet! Reminds me of my mom, she always had a white cat. :-)
That's a beautiful painting! I love cats, and you feel that you really captured the softness sweet little Wasabi no doubt brought to someone's life! I love your dog portraits, too.
